Incoming Inspection
Internal Soundness Test

Samples are cut across section ,polished & etched in 50% hot HCL for 15-20 minutes .Inspection for Piping Porosity Macro Inclusions Hair Line crack segregations etc on C/S surface
Macro Structure

Samples to be taken as per Sampling Plan for Upsetting.Cut Pcs are forged at forging temperature to see for Surface Cracks .

SEAMS UPTO 0.1 Depth only accepted
Chemical Composition checking by wet analysis

Inclusion Rating.

Checked as per IS-4163 and should
not exceed 3A,3B,3C,3D, in thick & thin series .
Grain Size
One sample per heat, in the range of ASTM 5-8 for fine gain steels at x100 upset sample is normalized at normalizing temperature and the size of the Pearlite grains are compared with standard chart for actual grain size determination

Hardness
Upset normalized pieces are checked for the hardness to confirm whether normalized hardness is coming well within the specified limits

CAD / CAM DEPARTMENT

All Customer Drawings are studied In Auto CAD 2000 and then model simulation is done in Unigraphix NX 4.0 and accordingly Tool Path Generation is transferred to Vertical Machining Center in Tool Room Via LAN
